It was a pleasure to review the submissions for this year’s awards. They reflect the eclectic approach and attention to place that have long been hallmarks of artworks on display at the Redwood Art Association.
Works of art selected for awards in this year’s exhibition range from visionary landscape views to impeccably styled photographic abstractions.
Tom Boyer’s graphic animation “Nosy Uncle Sam” personifies a nightmare of intrusion. Mary Ann Machi’s photograph “Ascension” documents a moment in which light and shadow arrange themselves into meaningful form, while Guy Joy’s realist painting “A New Dawn” documents a hot tub moment that lends itself to symbolic interpretation in the context of the new year.
